Specialty Kits in Baltimore, MD

Specialty kits often have strict handling rules. We collect, prepare, and ship exactly to the lab’s protocol so the sample is not rejected.

What this service is

Specialty and send-out kits come from a specific laboratory with their own collection instructions: particular tubes in a particular order, a set number of inversions, timed centrifuge steps, aliquoting into transfer vials, freezing or refrigeration, and a shipping window that is often the same day.

Those requirements are where self-collected kits usually fail. A sample that is drawn correctly but spun late, stored at the wrong temperature, or shipped outside the window gets rejected, and the patient repeats the whole process.

We read the kit’s protocol before the visit, collect to that protocol, prepare the specimen as the lab specifies, and get it into the correct shipping channel.

Questions

Specialty Kits FAQs

Do I need a doctor’s order for a specialty kit?

Not usually. Most specialty kits are ordered through the laboratory or a practitioner and arrive at your door with everything included. Our role is the collection and preparation, not the ordering. If your kit does require an order, it will say so in the paperwork.

What if my kit has complicated handling instructions?

That is exactly what this service is for. Send us the instructions when you book. Centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and timed steps are routine for us, and knowing in advance lets us bring the right equipment.

Do you provide the kit?

No. The kit comes from the laboratory or your practitioner and should arrive complete with tubes, labels, and shipping materials. Check the contents when it arrives and tell us if anything is missing so it can be replaced before your appointment.

Can you ship the sample for me?

Yes. Specialty kits include prepaid shipping materials, and we prepare and send the specimen according to the lab’s instructions. Many kits require same-day shipping, which is a common reason self-collected samples fail.

What happens if the lab rejects my sample?

Rejections usually come from handling errors: wrong tube, missed timing, incorrect storage, or a late shipment. Following the protocol precisely is how we avoid them. If a kit arrives incomplete or the protocol cannot be met, we tell you before collecting rather than drawing a sample that will not be usable.

How far in advance should I book?

As soon as your kit arrives. Some kits must ship on specific weekdays so they are not sitting in transit over a weekend, and booking early gives us room to schedule around that.
